Frequently Asked Questions
Shredders
IDEAL shredders are equipped with an electronic capacity control (ECC), which monitors sheet capacity levels to prevent jams during shredding. Additionally, deskside units have an automatic reverse and power cutoff feature that activates when the shredder is overfed, effectively preventing jamming.
While most of our shredders are designed for continual use, we recommend you consult your operation manual, which can be found in a pouch on the inside door of your new paper shredder, to determine if your unit is rated for continuous duty or requires a cool-down period. Following the manufacturer’s guidelines will help you prevent overheating.
While we do not recommend consistent shredding of cardboard, small amounts of cardstock can be shredded along with paper.
When using for the first time and when you change the oil bottle (B):
• Press the rocker switch
• Press and hold the rocker switch “R”, until the LED (A) no longer blinks red

You can manually oil your shredder in two ways. First, you can directly squirt IDEAL shredder oil into the shredder’s mouth by squeezing a stream back and forth across the shredding opening. Alternatively, you can apply oil to a few sheets of paper by squeezing it from corner to corner, creating an X or S pattern, and then shredding the oiled sheets. This process allows the dry paper shredded after lubrication to pick up any paper dust or particles in the shredder head, ensuring maximum capacity. Remember to generously oil your paper shredder after each bag change.
For P4 and P5 shredders IDEAL has a limited lifetime warranty on cutting shafts and wheels. 3-year limited warranty on all other parts excluding wearables.
What items your machine can shred depends on the horsepower of the motor and the security level. For example, the P-7 Super Micro Cut machines may only shred paper. We recommend you consult your operation manual, which can be found in a pouch on the inside door of your new paper shredder, to determine what materials your specific shredder can safely handle.
The smiley face on your Easy-Switch element indicates the used sheet capacity during the shredding process, helping you avoid paper jams. It eliminates the need for counting sheets manually.
The most secure shred size would be a P-7 Super Micro Cut.
Air Purifiers
Yes, the IDEAL air purifier is working to reduce the amount of allergens, pollen, dust, pet dander, and odors from the indoor air that you breathe.
No, the IDEAL air purifier cannot prevent you from getting Covid-19. No air purifier can.
Yes of course! You can set up a subscription through our website.
Yes! You can purchase a color sleeve for the AP30 Pro and AP40 Pro air purifier.
No. The IDEAL Air Purifier cannot emit ozone because it’s capturing airborne particles through a HEPA filter and not by electrical means through Ionizing or UV lights.
The AS10 sensor can be connected to up to 5 IDEAL air purifiers.
On average the filter has to be changed after 12 months, depending on the intensity of the usage.
To keep your air purifier running at max efficiency you should wipe down the top prefilter mesh weekly.
You will need a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection.
When in automatic mode your IDEAL air purifier has a sensor which is automatically measuring the size of airborne debris and monitoring for odors in the air. Once the air purifier detects debris or an odor it will automatically increase the airflow speed to help resolve the problem. Once gone the machine will return to a lower speed.
PM stands for Particulate Matter. This term is used when talking about a microscopic mixture of solid particles and liquid droplets found in the air.
The air exchange rate is telling you how quickly an air purifier can clean the air within the desired space. For example, if your IDEAL air purifier states it’s ideal for a room size of 75 sq. m. with an Air Exchange Rate of 13 minutes. This means it only takes 13 minutes to clean the air in an 75 sq. m. room. If the machine ran for just under 1 hour it would have cleaned that air in that 75 sq. m. room 4-times.
HEPA stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air (filter). This type of filter can remove dust, pollen, and any airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns.
The extremely efficient high-quality motor combined with a flow-optimized fan air routing system allows your ideal air purifier to run all day and night without interrupting work or sleep.
An ideal air purifier can filter airborne debris ranging in size from PM10, PM2.5, PM0.3, and PM0.1.
In Germany.
The AP40 Pro & AP80 Pro comes with a handy remote.
